SAMPLE COURSES AND OPERATION MANUAL

This page is devoted to course layouts that you can set up for your dog. The thing about lure coursing and sprint/drag is that the safety of your dog should be the most important consideration. If you make the turns too tight for the space, your dog could be injured so the rule of thumb is, keep the turns between 120 and 150 degrees (click on the Angle Guide below). This becomes even more important with the L'il Monster reversible machine because you'll be able to create all kinds of layouts - some of which will be dangerous for your dog if not set up properly.

The second most important thing is your safety and the safety of people around you. Keep in mind that every dog around you is going to go absolutley nuts when you hit that switch. Both spectators and their dogs can be injured, so before you run your dog, you need to let people know. I recommend yelling out "Hold your hounds!" very loudly. Don't be shy - just shout it out. This will give people around you a chance to tighten up their leads and/or grab their dogs!

ATTENTION: We really recommend crating your dog while you're setting up your course. It will prevent false starts, tangled lines, falling humans, and a lot of frustration on your part!

We also highly recommend wearing gloves when you're working with the line on a drag lure. If you happen to have it in your hands and your dog (or someone else's dog) happens to spy the lure across the field and runs off with it, you may cut or burn yourself, so please crate your dog and wear gloves.

We really don't want to hear that you've injured yourself, so please wear gloves! At least bring them with you...

Last, but not least, it should be self-evident that closing and latching the lid while you're running the machine is a really bad idea. Not only is it impossible for you to see a problem that might come up with the line or electrical system, some of the custom machines just won't run properly because of the size of the spool, and you can fry your motor from the excess drag created. So please, don't latch the lid while you're running the machine!

Okay, so now you're ready to run. Click these links to see sample course layouts for the Lure Baby drag machines!
