OUR STRING
String is very interesting stuff. You may or may not know that you can't use just any kind of string for lure coursing. All lure coursing fun runs and competition events use it, which is why we offer both the small size for our Lure Babies and the larger size for the big machines out there in the competitive world.
You may have seen the typical white stuff on the field at ASFA or AKC events. But it is definitely not all alike: some string has more stretch to it than others. We wanted to offer ours in colors (keeping with our basic premise that lure coursing should be fun), but adding color degrades the tensil strength of the string (it breaks a lot) and also makes it bigger so the lure tips can't be threaded. Sooo, for now we can only offer white, but we're workin' on it!
Our string is the finest competitive polyester Dacron available. No stretch, durable, and it comes on a 400 yard spool.
COMPETITION LINE
Both the Lure Baby and the L'il Monster use the same type of durable line as the big field machines at AKC/ASFA events. We offer braided Dacron that's the same size (185# - 200#) as the Standard Competition line - durable and with the same great quality. It comes in 400 yards on a reusable spool that's designed to fit the line return machine that comes with the L'il Monster.

ACCESSORIES
STRING LEVEL MECHANISM
Because we listen to you and constantly strive to make our product the best on the market, we are developing a mechanism to prevent backlash on the Lure Baby drag lure (see our page on FIXIT Q's & A's). This is our own design and will keep the string winding more evenly onto the spool as it comes in (see pictures). We have a few in the field-test stage but they're really not ready for prime time, yet, due to a lack of regular supply of the parts.
So far, the results we've seen show that this mechanism does eliminate tangles while the machine is running, but the tangles are still there. They show up when you're trying to re-string the course after the run and you may have some delays between runs because of this.
This mechanism is a big help on the field, and will be extremely helpful once perfected. Keep in mind, you don't HAVE to have it, its just a convenience. If you would like this device, it will mean a small increase in price, but we know you're going to appreciate the difference in performance! It will only be available on standard Lure Babies with standard spools. We'll let you know when it's available for sale.
